12×12: My Happy Place

My Happy Place 12x12 Layout using Bella Blvd Plaids and Dotty Collection - Lydia Cost

I have a new layout up on the Bella Blvd blog this morning!  I have had this photo of this little Bible stack sitting in my “To Document” pile for some time now, and I finally got it done!  I couldn’t wait to use the pretty-as-ever bonus pattern from the Plaids & Dotty collection.

12×12: You Are Beautiful

You Are Beautiful 12x12 Layout using Paige Taylor Evans Pick Me Up Collection - Lydia Cost

Given that I’m a mother to a toddler, layouts can take days to complete.  This one was really important to me for a couple reasons.  Can you believe that I’ve never scrapbooked a photo of myself alone?!  I hardly ever take photos of myself, and I have a hard time seeing myself in candid photos.  I’m just not meant to be on the other side of the lens.  I know this has a lot to do with self-image, and I need to give up this terrible habit!

This layout was a reminder to me to seek out the beauty in me, and to remind myself that even photos of myself are worthy of beautiful scrappy supplies!

The second reason that I created this layout was because I have exploring more bold colors in my scrapbooking.  I don’t think I’ve ever created a layout with a red background.  I began this layout with the intention to place my elements on a white background, but after searching through the Pick Me Up papers, I fell in love with Paper 11.  After cutting out these window frames, I knew I wanted to create some kind of brick background, and the pinks and red of this paper really called out to me!

This whole layout was inspired by these little flower holders.  I created these by using my 2 1/2″ scallop circle punch.  I simply folded them in half both ways, then cut them in half.  They created the perfect little bouquet holder to adhere to my page in preparation for my fussy-cut flowers from Paper 2.

I finished off my page with some hidden journaling with a card from the journaling spots pieces.  I really wanted to write a letter to myself reminding myself to find my loveliness in even the roughest of emotions.
