As I sat down this last month to read in Ecclesiastes in preparation for a verse I had been asked to journal for Winding Path Ministries , I was struck by so many verses that I wanted to journal. Ecclesiastes 3 was a perfect chapter to have chosen, and I loved the message behind these verses.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 (ESV)
12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13 also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.
There is nothing better for us to do then find joy in our lives because it is a gift from God. Choose to see the good in all things that the Lord has provided for you, even in less than perfect circumstances. Be joyful and do good, for it honors and glorifies Him!
Something about this verse just made me smile, and I knew I needed to pull inspiration from a bright, happy collection! My first thought was Amy Tangerine. I pulled out my mess of ephemora from the organizer and sifted through to find the Better Together Die-cuts. The acetate pieces have always had my heart, so I chose 2 pieces and got to work.
Brea Reese Glitter Ink has literally stolen my heart, and I must own it in every color! It was the base for my background color, but I added some yellow gouache, peacock blue distress stain, and white acrylic paint. The same evening I put this page together, my sweet husband took my toddler to the movies, so I got some “me time.” It was amazing, and I checked out a local scrapbooking store. They didn’t really carry products that I would normally purchase, but these Studio Calico (Lemon Lush) sequins made me stop in my tracks! I had to have them, even though the price was a little exuberant for sequins; I was happy to support local business. A tab, Tim Holtz Small Talk, and a little stitching later, I was in love!
This page reflected exactly how I felt about this verse! As if I could have said it better myself, Amy Tan put it right there on her little die-cut; Be happy for today…it’s a gift from God!
